Designer alert: Mara & Mine

For those who haven’t figured it out by now, I have a slightly dark side when it comes to fashion, I love skulls, leather, studs and sumptuously dark lace, which correctly indicates that my favourite designers are Alexander McQueen and Givenchy.

However, that’s not to say I don’t love up-and-coming designers, and that is especially true when it comes to the trendy new brand Mara & Mine.

I first spotted their suede skeletal foot slippers earlier this year and knew I had to have them. Like a woman possessed I searched high and low for the brand that made these amazingly cool flats.Image

By the time Coachella rolled round my research/ stalking had paid off and I found out that Jasmine Yarbrough and Tamie Ingham, two young, uber talented Australian’s based in Los Angeles were the brains behind Mara & Mine.

With backgrounds on opposite ends of fashion – Jasmine as an international model and Tamie a fashion stylist – they took their love of fashion and design to embark on a gothic fashion adventure.Jas and ma

Mara & Mine just launched in the US with their Fall/Winter 2013 collection. The ‘Mexican’ inspiration collection is filled with exclusive embroidered designed slippers and sandals that have been an instant success. You might have spotted Chanel Iman, Cara Delevigne, and even Kourtney Kardashian sporting their signature skull slipper and more recently another member of KUWTK, Kendall Jenner was spotted wearing their Billy Bull slipper.

Mara & Mine’s “Jem Skull Slippers” are my personal favourite and the maroon ones with rich black embroidery are currently on my wishlist.Image

The reason why I absolutely LOVE and support this brand is because Yarbrough and Ingham personally source luxurious, high quality fabrics and hardware from both Italy and Spain. They then develop their own leathers and embellishments to create that perfect balance of edgy yet feminine shoes. I had the pleasure of speaking to Jasmine and she says it is exactly these unique details that make Mara & Mine stand out. The collection is affordable aspiration, and the combination of creativity and wearability makes their shoes highly covetable.

I’d describe the collection as comfortably flattering, with a sense of humour and playfulness infused in the designs. They also do sandals and men’s shoes (no need to feel left out boys), so there’s something for every season and everyone.

They offer worldwide delivery but are also stocked exclusively at Browns in London. They’d make a great Chritsmas present or in my case an early birthday present to myself (any excuse eh?).
